Drover Rideshare is happy to announce that we will be opening for business on July 4th! Riders will be able to place rides through the app in Cookeville, TN starting on that date, with more cities to follow shortly after. We at Drover Rideshare are so excited to bring our service to town, as the founder, Jeff Garland, and many of the others involved call Cookeville our home. It will be a pleasure to bring affordable, eco-friendly Rideshare to our Cookeville community.
If you aren’t caught up with what Drover Rideshare is and what we’re all about, you can read more about us on our About page. Our goal is to provide a service that gives back to the local community in a couple of different unique ways, such as providing a fun and positive environment to our riders as well as giving back to the community through our philanthropy initiatives. 2% of every fare is donated to a local or Tennessee based charity, and we hope that through providing our service to the community, we can make a strong and positive impact. For more information on our initiative to give back to charity, check out our Drive for Charity page.

In addition to the core functionality of the Drover app (facilitating ridesharing), we are working on developing a new feature, Drover Music, that will also allow riders to request and play songs from their phone during their ride. The rider will use Spotify to search for a song to request to play. The request will be received by the driver if the driver allows songs to be played in their vehicle. Once the request is approved, the song will play through the driver’s phone using Spotify while the driver continues to the rider’s requested destination.
The On-Demand Economy is here. To recap from my On-Demand Economy blog entry, the On-Demand economy is composed of people-to-people transactions facilitated by technology companies (aka smartphone apps), in which people order goods or services and other people deliver/provide that good/service. In order to rise to the opportunity the On-Demand Economy presents, Drover is proud to announce Drover Delivery, a service by which app users will be able to order food (and hopefully other goods) delivered to them by our drivers.
Drover is proud to announce the impending launch of our Robotics Division, spearheaded by Warren Williams. He holds several US patents, in power management systems, radar, sonar, AI, agriculture, waste management, water purification, and new electric motors. He has published articles and been featured in numerous media channels, including Scientific America, Servo Magazine, Popular Mechanics, and seen on CBS news. Dateline, and Fox news. Warren, a career robotics expert and seasoned innovator, has a lot to say about the projects he will be launching at Drover.
Drover Rideshare officially became a corporation on May 13, 2016. Near that date, CEO Jeff Garland assembled a team of some of the best app developers in Tennessee to start working on Drover's Android and iOS apps. In the past four months, our app dev team have been working tirelessly on bringing Drover to the app market. Today, I am ecstatic to announce that the Android App is 'core complete'.
The Drover Shop supplies rideshare drivers with everything from essential Drover Rideshare gear to specially designed accessories to outfit any vehicle. Drover ride fares directly benefit local charities -- 24/7, no catch, no exceptions. We want to have our eyes open and our arms outstretched towards the communities that support our operations. Rather than have our Drovers simply move through city streets, we want to actively contribute to the incredible humanitarian efforts already in place in the cities we serve. Everyday, thousands of people serve their community via their positions and volunteering in local and state-based non-profits. Here at Drover, we want to do our part to recognize and help further their efforts through the donation of 2% of each and every fare a Drover ride generates.
As a company, we define ourselves by our unique care for and attention to the environment coupled with our unprecedented focus on the safety and happiness of our drivers and riders. Our dedication to these fronts is unparalleled in the current rideshare industry. Our ultimate goal is to change this; we want to make the rideshare industry more people-centric, and focused on providing a lifting experience to real human beings.
