Drover 4th of July Grand Opening in Cookeville - Let's Drove!

Drover Rideshare is happy to announce that we will be opening for business on July 4th! Riders will be able to place rides through the app in Cookeville, TN starting on that date, with more cities to follow shortly after. We at Drover Rideshare are so excited to bring our service to town, as the founder, Jeff Garland, and many of the others involved call Cookeville our home. It will be a pleasure to bring affordable, eco-friendly Rideshare to our Cookeville community.

If you aren’t caught up with what Drover Rideshare is and what we’re all about, you can read more about us on our About page. Our goal is to provide a service that gives back to the local community in a couple of different unique ways, such as providing a fun and positive environment to our riders as well as giving back to the community through our philanthropy initiatives. 2% of every fare is donated to a local or Tennessee based charity, and we hope that through providing our service to the community, we can make a strong and positive impact. For more information on our initiative to give back to charity, check out our Drive for Charity page.

If you’re interested in becoming a driver, please read our Drive for Drover page and see if you’d be a good fit! We strive to provide a welcoming and encouraging environment to all potential Drovers and hope that you’ll reach out and apply. Although our launch on July 4th is for the Cookeville market, we are looking for drivers in a wide array of markets across Tennessee. For the full list of cities that we are recruiting in, please take a look at the Drive for Drover page linked above. If you’re interested in becoming a driver, please send an email to droverrideshare@gmail.com or call (615)-400-3334.

Even though our launch in Cookeville is not until July 4th, our apps are available for download today! You can download them off the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, and get registered in preparation for the launch.

We at Drover Rideshare are so excited to launch on the 4th of July here in Cookeville and hope you’ll join us along for the ride when we get started. We can’t wait to get started and show you what we’re all about! The Pure Electric Car Market and Horizon - PART III

The Pure Electric Car Market and Horizon - PART III

In this Part, III, we investigate the three largest electric car markets in the world -- China, Japan, and Europe (as a sales region made up of individual countries/parties).

The Pure Electric Car Market and Horizon PART I

The Pure Electric Car Market and Horizon PART I

Our goal here at Drover, in essence, is to develop an environmentally-friendly rideshare service. To that end, we recognize the importance of the growing pure electric vehicle market around the world. As of December 2015, 1,260,000 pure EVs and plug-in hybrids existed across the world, a number 100 times higher than the world's EV stock (population/amount of EVs in the world) in 2010 (1). Pure electric vehicles are at the core of our current and future business model.

Meet Mrs. Drover - Dr. Scarlett Garland

Meet Mrs. Drover - Dr. Scarlett Garland

Jeffrey Garland, Founder and CEO of Drover, wouldn't be the same man -- and Drover wouldn't be the same company - without his wife, Dr. Scarlett Garland, DNP. Since Jeff and Scarlett married in November 2015, Scarlett has dutifully supported Jeff's entrepreneurial spirit and initiative in founding Drover. In addition to being Jeff's #! advocate and supporter, she leads an accomplished career as a Doctor of Nurse Practice.

Meet Neel Patel

Meet Neel Patel

Hey everyone! My name is Neel Patel and I am an iOS Developer at Drover Rideshare. I am from India and moved to United States back in 2009. I lived in New Jersey for about 8 months before moving to Tennessee. I live in Cookeville, Tennessee and went to highschool there. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science at Tennessee Technological University.

The Drover Difference

The Drover Difference

During the last few weeks, we have been meeting with all kinds of people to talk about Drover. The main question (and understandably so) that everyone asks us is: "What makes Drover unique?" So today, we are going to talk about the Drover difference -- everything that makes us special, and then some.

Is Ridesharing Right for You? Part 2

Is Ridesharing Right for You? Part 2

In my previous post, we walked through a diagram I made to evaluate if you would make a good rideshare rider / if you would enjoy participating in rideshare as a rider. This post will follow a similar format, working through questions to help you decide if working as a rideshare driver is right for you. To illustrate this concept, I have once again attached my poorly drawn whiteboard diagram which I will annotate throughout this post.

Is Ridesharing Right for You? Part 1

Is Ridesharing Right for You? Part 1

When I first thought of this post, I imagined it being mostly funny, however, I realized that this question raises some very valid concerns. In a post-Uber world, and especially in a city like Nashville where ridesharing is very popular, it can be easy to forget that not everyone is on board with the concept. So, if you have ever had any thoughts about whether or not rideshare is right for you, or if you already do engage with ridesharing but want a laugh, you've come to the right place. To illustrate this, I have included a (hopefully) amusing whiteboard drawing.

First-hand Look at a Drover Beta Test

First-hand Look at a Drover Beta Test

At 9am last Saturday morning (Sept. 3rd), CEO Jeffrey Garland's mom came to pick me up from Vanderbilt's campus to bring me to Drover HQ in Cookeville, TN. On Saturday, I attended a key Drover beta test as we prepare to launch the app on the Play Store and App Store in the next few months.

Drover Themed Rides

Drover Themed Rides

Imagine this -- you open the door of your Drover Ride, ready to be epically moved by Drover Rideshare. You know what to expect at this point: water bottles, green mints, and an incredibly friendly, fun, and safe Drover experience. You are surprised, however, to find that your Drover (driver) is dressed up in a costume. Is it Halloween all year long at Drover? Not quite. Welcome to Drover Themed Rides.

Mr. Drover Meets Tesla

Mr. Drover Meets Tesla

Last week, Drover Founder Jeffrey Garland test drove a Tesla Model S for the first time! Jeff drove the P90D Model S with Tesla's "Ludicrous Speed" Upgrade; electric all-wheel drive, 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. In a word, Jeff was amazed by the Model S.

Drover Green Culture

Drover Green Culture

As you have probably noticed, Drover sports a distinctly a 'green' theme. On a fundamental level, this color scheme represents our commitment to green technology, and environmentally sustainable development. In addition, Drover's green theme represents the green, friendly culture that we want each of our drivers to promote and sustain in their cars during all rides.

My Experiences with Uber

My Experiences with Uber

Before coming to Nashville to study at Vanderbilt, I had never heard of Uber or ridesharing in general. Since then however, I have taken over 75 rides in Uber and Lyft combined. Given this, I feel like I have enough experience now to comment on ridesharing from the perspective of a rider. Drover Rideshare hopes to uniquely serve riders and drivers with our Green Culture.
